Ma'amma

An elderly couple embraces and laughs together, with the man wearing a striped shirt and the woman in a black sweater.

The catalyst behind my love of photos was my Grandmother, Sandra; Ma'amma. Hers was the house that always had the door unlocked and a plate of food for anyone who needed it. I lived in her house for many years as a small girl myself! And I cherish those memories. She was my best friend.

I lost Ma'amma in 2024 to cancer. And the whole family fell apart. Thankfully, before we found out she was sick I asked a dear friend of mine to take a photo of us at the summer party. There are over 30 people across four generations in that photo; we were only missing a few! I will forever be grateful for those photos.

She kept very good records of the whole family in old leather bound albums with the cellophane pages. I remember flipping the pages and listening to her tell me stories about her childhood, and her mom and dad. I miss her everyday.

So now here I am helping others tell their future Grandbabies stories of a special time in their own life. They will never know who made that photo for them, but I will, and I am forever grateful I am able to do it.
